DETENT®, for people whose work is the product.

DETENT® is a web design and development studio for people in creative fields: photographers, filmmakers, colorists, art directors, writers, actors, dancers, models, other studios. If your work is creative, we can build for it.

We design and build custom websites. The design, the animations, the code and the launch, all of it. No templates, no page builders.

We come from the creative field ourselves, so you don't have to explain why your work should look a certain way. One person designs and builds the whole site, so nothing gets lost in between. Every site is made from scratch for your work.

Two things kept bothering us in this field.

The first one is templates. A custom site sounds expensive and slow, so most creatives just pick a theme. And then their portfolio looks like thirty others.

The second one is that designing and building are usually done by two different people. Somewhere in between, things change: the site ends up looking a bit off, the animations get simpler, and the cool ideas get skipped because they're hard to build. You never see the original design, so you never know what you missed.

DETENT® fixes both. We know what a portfolio needs, and because one person designs and builds it, the site you get is exactly the site you saw.

Every project starts with a conversation. A call, a meeting, whatever works for you. We want to know what you make, what the site needs to do, and what your budget is.

We don't have fixed packages, prices or timelines, because no project is the same. Some sites need five simple pages, some need custom animations or a huge archive of work.

We work with your budget as long as it's realistic. If it isn't, we just tell you at the start, and usually we can change the plan so it fits.

Then we agree on what's included: what gets built, what you get, and the price. Designing and building happen together, so every detail makes it to the live site.

There's room for feedback the whole way. New pages, new functions or a new direction can always be discussed, but that can change the budget and the timeline.

When the site is done we test it, fix the last things and launch. After that the project is finished. Updates, new work or anything extra, we handle separately whenever you need it.

A detent is the little mechanism that holds something in place. The click in a volume knob, the step in a scroll wheel, the catch in a camera button halfway down. You feel it, but it doesn't stop you.

It's an old French word for letting go of something at exactly the right moment.

We picked the name because that's the feeling we want in our work: the moment a design clicks into place.
